Dave & Ewe

My name is Dave Buscombe and I have worked with animals since childhood. My life has been enriched by the power of animals and what they can bring to people.  I was born into a farming family in Cornwall and worked there with my family for some years before joining the British Army.

I left the British Army to work for the UK Government in a people focussed role and found that animal therapy was becoming more and more important to my wellbeing and I could see the benefit it would provide to others.

I started working with a Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) school using some of my animals and it was clear that they enriched the lives of the children and their families.  Animals are non-judgemental and do not have prejudice, they are a calming influence and can be used to teach simple rules to promote attachment and relationship building.  This process builds confidence in the subject as they form a bond with animals and develop life-skills.

Animal therapy sessions can also link effectively into the educational curriculum with plenty of methods available to include basic maths, reading and writing as well as geography, history and science.

I take great pride in getting to know people and matching them to the right animal and therapy approach to improve their outcome.
