Therapeutic Farm Experiences in Calne, Wiltshire
Mission Statement:

To protect animals, local ecology and historical record, whilst promoting and enhancing well-being, improving outcomes and making a positive difference to the lives of children, adults and their families; through the medium of therapeutic, nature-based activities.

Our Focus

Wellbeing

Sessions with Dave and Ewe is a therapy first provision with all initial approaches delivered therapeutically through the animals.
The focus on social and emotional aspects of learning are tailored to the individual needs and mental wellbeing of each child.
Animal assisted interventions foster emotional bonds that exist in human - animal relationships. This enables the sessions to work on self esteem, emotional regulation and confidence to build a foundation on which a wealth of other aspects of learning can then be taught.
When children learn how to  care for an animal it promotes and fosters skills which can then be transferred to their relationships with  the people in their lives.

Education

Dave and Ewe offers both 1-1 and group sessions to children and young people assisted by a range of animals.
The sessions teach children about animal care, life skills, decision making, problem solving and about themselves.
Animal assisted education provides opportunities to engage in real life experiences as a basis for learning. Observing and reflecting on these concrete experiences builds conceptual understanding.

Dave and Ewe

Dave & Ewe is a an animal rescue setting and farming community endeavour sustained through a small business run by Dave Buscombe, based around therapeutic farm sessions. It is located on a farm in Highway, a hamlet and former civil parish in Wiltshire, that lies about 1.5 miles southeast of Hilmarton Village and 3.5 miles northeast of the town of Calne. The farm is framed by the North Wessex Downs and is within a designated Area of Natural Beauty (AONB). It boasts a stunning landscape of ancient woods, gently meandering chalk springs and rolling downland. The farm is an authentic, charming and well-equipped space which provides a home for Dave’s animals including alpacas, chickens, donkeys, ducks, goats, guinea pigs, pigs, ponies, rabbits and sheep.
